“IWT is organized as a forum for individuals interested in woodturning. The primary purposes of IWT are consistent with the fundamental purposes of AAW, “to provide Information, Education and organization to those interested in turning wood.” The membership is drawn from Independence, MO and surrounding areas, but is not limited to Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri.”
Well another month has went by, and some things have changed and some have not. Some stay at home orders are still in effect for a little while longer which limit size of groups meeting. For the months of June and July we will be have virtual meeting using zoom. Which brings up August. The officers would like you feedback about when you would feel comfortable enough to attend an in-person meeting. So just send us an email and let us know your position. As far as the ‘open shop’ we will still do zoom meetings for the month of June. For July we will look into having open shop back at Metro since attendance is low for these get togethers. That would be July 11th based on things continuing to go well and with Metro’s okay.
As far as the rest of the year the officers have decided to cancel the “creativity challenge” and “President’s challenge” for this year. Hopefully next year we can makeup for this lose in someway.
On the AAW front it looks like they are going to have a virtual symposium meeting. Details have not been released yet. During the coming month if you see a turning video that is interesting that members might want to see send me the link and we will get it out to members. Seems there is always something interesting on Web on what others are doing.
I hope everyone is well and continuing to stay safe. See you at the zoom meeting on June 16th at 7pm.
As mentioned in the meeting, here is the link to the More Woodturning Magazine. Click on that link and you can take a look at a sample edition of the magazine.
