Laser pointer edge finder
To help locate the edge on an irregularly shaped piece such as a natural edge bowl a laser pointer can show you where the edge will be when turning. Hold and point the laser from a steady position such as the tool rest while turning the lathe by hand to find where the center of your piece would be to preserve the edge you want. A few trials may be necessary to locate the best center for your masterpiece.
