Presidents Message

September 2021

Fall is coming. Cooler weather and time to think about the holiday seasons. If you are making gifts for the holidays now is the time to get started. I was hoping for our meetings to resume in person, but due to increase in cases it looks like now that will be next year. Remember this month’s meeting (Sept. 21st) has a local artisan Gerry McMaster presenting the demo. In the month of October, the demo is by David Ellsworth but will be shown on October 11th and cost only $10.00. This is a demo you do not want to miss. You should have received an email with a link to send payment. We will still have an abbreviated meeting on October 19th. We will have Show & Tell and nominations for board officers, with the election at the November meeting. Speaking of the November meeting will be “Jigs & Fixtures”. You can send pictures or a small video of something you use to make you woodturning easier. Also, check the newsletter about the opportunity we have to promote our craft and club by displaying our work at the Mid-Continent Library in Lee’s Summit. This is open to all members to participate. Look around the house and I am sure you have an item you created that you are proud of because you display it in your home. Now you have the opportunity to let others see what can be done by woodturners in this area. Everyone stay safe and see you at one of the upcoming Zoom meetings.

  • As mentioned in the meeting, here is the link to the More Woodturning Magazine.  Click on that link and you can take a look at a sample edition of the magazine.

Keep turning safely and we’ll see you at the meeting.
