Presidents Message

July 2021

Good July Woodturners,

The heat of summer is upon us finally. Hope everyone has a somewhat cool area to do their craft. Remember to sign up for the demo this month. Professional Woodturner Emiliano Achaval Zoom Demo will be on Tuesday, July 20th, 7:00pm-9:30pm in place of our regular meeting. The cost is only $10.00. See the link in the last email sent 7/7/21. If you did not receive an email contact one of the club officers.

We will be going to Camp Tomah Shinga in the coming week. I hope some club members have decided to come and enjoy the time with the campers as they turn pens.

Just a reminder that dues for 2021 can be paid through website, PayPal link or by sending a check made out to “Independence Woodturners” to Mel Bryan, Treasurer. The address is: 204 NW Redwing Dr., Lee’s Summit, Mo. 64063. Starting in September we hope to start in-person/zoom monthly meetings. Unfortunately, some members have not paid dues. During the 2020 year we did not enforce the by-law rules regarding dues, since this was a very unusual situation for all involved. We have pushed a little more for dues to be paid this year, but with somewhat normal operations coming soon, the dues are an especially important part of keeping this club operating. Doing the dual in-person/Zoom meetings will push the technology the club uses currently. The club basically does not own any camera equipment or video capability. In the last 18 months this has been done by members allowing the club to use their equipment. Since half of the year is over the dues are only $10.00.

I wish everyone to stay safe and healthy.

Keep turning safely and we’ll see you at the meeting.
